How to Cultivate Abundance Without A Raise
Introduction:
Hi, I’m Max – A High Performance Coach.
Let’s get something straight from the start—this article is going to be a bit different from the usual high-performance strategies. If you’re someone who lives by hard results, action steps, and measurable outcomes, today’s reading may challenge you. But stay with me. Let’s ask a fundamental question: Do results create mindset, or does mindset create results?
Consider this—before any real change can happen in your external world (whether financial, career, or otherwise), there needs to be a shift internally. Here’s the rational explanation: If you don’t believe something is possible for you, you’ll never take the necessary steps to make it happen. Pretty simple, right? The belief system you operate from will either push you toward or pull you away from opportunities. Your internal state—how you view yourself and what you believe you deserve—shapes the actions you take. It’s as simple as that.
So, how do you shift your mindset to cultivate abundance in your financial life without needing a raise?
Here’s a three-step process that might sound unconventional, but if you stick with it for 90 days, the results will speak for themselves. If it doesn’t work, consider me proven wrong. But you won’t know until you try.
1) Create a Visualization Practice
Don’t click off just yet—stick with me here. Visualization has been a cornerstone of personal development for decades, and there’s a neurological reason why. Enter the Reticular Activating System (RAS)—the part of your brain that filters information and focuses on what’s relevant. When you focus your thoughts on a specific goal or outcome, your RAS begins to filter in the opportunities, people, and ideas that align with that vision. Think of it this way—have you ever started thinking about a certain car, and then suddenly you see it everywhere? That’s your RAS at work.
Now, apply this concept to your financial life. If you visualize a new level of wealth for yourself, your RAS will help you notice opportunities, connections, and ideas that were always around, but you simply weren’t tuned in to them. On the flip side, if you believe that this new level of wealth isn’t possible, your RAS will filter out anything that could lead you there. And I would hazard a guess that’s what’s already happening.
Action Step: Spend 20 minutes each day visualizing your desired financial outcome. Picture it in the present tense—imagine it as if it’s already happening. The key is to train your brain to see abundance, not scarcity.
2) Keep a Journal to Track Objections
As you start visualizing this new level of wealth, you’re likely to encounter internal objections. These could range from “I don’t know how” to “Money is the root of all evil” or even deep-seated fears like “I’ll go broke just like my father did.” These objections aren’t random—they’re rooted in your core beliefs about money, and about your own worth, which have been shaped by your experiences and conditioning.
Tracking these objections in a journal will give you insight into what’s been holding you back. These thoughts are like mental blocks that prevent you from taking action toward financial abundance. Once you can identify them, you can start questioning their validity and loosening their grip on your psyche.
Action Step: Whenever an objection arises, write it down in your journal. Start examining these beliefs and ask yourself—are they truly valid? Are they based on reality, or are they inherited beliefs you’ve never questioned?
3) Set the Habit and Never Miss
Consistency is the key to making this process work. Between visualizing your new financial reality and uncovering your money beliefs, you’ll start to notice subtle shifts in your behavior and mindset. But this won’t happen if you approach it half-heartedly. Just like compound interest builds wealth over time, these practices build the neural pathways needed for you to shift from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance.
Action Step: Commit to doing this every single day for 90 days. Don’t skip a day. Consistency compounds, and over time, you’ll start to see the results in your external world. It’s not just about dreaming—it’s about rewiring your physiology to take action that aligns with abundance.
Conclusion:
If you’re thinking, “This won’t work,” then you’ve already missed the point.
But before you make that judgment, commit to this practice for 90 days. Challenge your own beliefs and give yourself the opportunity to shift internally before you look for external results.
